Jurrien Timber makes feelings clear with message to Arsenal fans after return from injury

Jurrien Timber has already set his sights on a first team return after making his long-awaited return to action.

Holland international Timber revealed he had received texts from teammates after scoring and playing 45 minutes of Arsenal’s under-21s game at Blackburn on Monday night. It was Timber’s first taste of action since suffering a cruciate knee ligaments injury on his Premier League debut against Nottingham Forest on the opening weekend of the season.

But Timber has set his sights on boosting Arsenal’s finish to the season.

When asked whether he was excited abbot a first team return, Timber said: “Oh yeah, I can’t wait. The boys have been texting me already, so it’s going to be fun. It’s been eight months, you know. To be honest, I still don’t really know how to feel, but just being out there feels amazing.

“Even now, it feels strange for me as well. It’s amazing, it’s been eight months. I feel happy, feel blessed to be out there and it was nice scoring a goal as well.

“I think we’re doing really well. The last couple of weeks have been tough, obviously out of the Champions League, but we’re still in the mix, we’re still there. I’m glad that I can be a part of it and let’s see what the last couple of weeks can bring. I hope something beautiful.”

Arsenal drew 2-2 and Timber said it felt special to score a spectacular goal as he so rarely finds the net. He added: “Even that felt strange! I didn’t realise I was even scoring a goal, because I don’t score a lot, maybe that’s changed since my rehab – let’s see! But it felt amazing, it felt like everything we worked for in the eight months out.”

Arsenal face Chelsea in the Premier League on Tuesday night, with victory pushing Mikel Arteta's men back to the top of the table.
